Story

Visit the empathy booth in Gates Hall

Stop by the ground floor of Gates Hall and visit the Empathy Booth. A collaborative project between Human Development and Francois Guimbretiere (IS), the booth is part of The Cornell Race and Empathy Project and aims to record, archive and share the everyday stories of Cornellians that evoke racial empathy. Working with Cornell's Intergroup Dialogue Project, the professors conducted a series of initial interviews campturing a range of race-related experiences and perspectives on the Cornell campus to serve as starting points for further conversatin. Within the privacy of a listening booth (now located in Gates Hall), community members can retrieve and listen to excerpts from these interviews, record a response, and share their own story of racial empathy.
