CIS welcomes new faculty to campus this fall

Students in computer science are enjoying taking classes this semester from three new CIS faculty members who joined us this fall (left to right) Rachit Agarwal, Adrian Sampson and Immanuel Trummer. Professor Agarwal comes from UC Berkeley and is teaching Undergrad Operating Systems. His academic focus is systems and networking with a focus on big data analytics, cloud computing and datacenter networking. Professor Sampson is teaching Programming Languages and Logics this semester and enjoyed a year at Microsoft before joining us at Cornell. He will be continuing his research into hardware-software abstractions, including computer architecture and programming languages. Professor Trummer is enjoying teaching Advanced Database Systems and comes to us after finishing his PhD at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland. His research focuses on databases, data mining, data science and optimization.
