Intel donates equipment to Intelligent Software Systems group
Fall 2005

The Intel Corporation has donated $40,000 of computer equipment to the Intelligent Software Systems group led by Keshav Pingali. The long-term goal of this group is to develop compiler technology that will permit programmers to focus on high level algorithmic issues without having to worry about coding for efficiency or fault-tolerance. The Intel grant is in support of an ongoing project on the use of analytical models in self-optimizing software systems, being done jointly with the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

CS Assistant Professor Rich Caruana was quoted in an October 2004 article in California Computer News Magazine titled "Internet Data-Mining." Schneider will be speaking at Harvard University's Center for Research on Computation and Society, giving a lecture titled "Divide and Be Conquered: Separation of Concerns for Trustworthiness," on April 14, 2005. According to the Web site, "During 2004-2005 the Center will host a series of public talks by leading thinkers who will explore a wide-range of areas."
