CS Prof Donald Greenberg to give Keynote Address at VIEW Conference

Dr. Donald Greenberg, the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of Computer Graphics and Director of the Program of Computer Graphics, will give a keynote address at the 2016 VIEW Conference to be held in late October in Turin, Italy. VIEW brings together top international professionals in the animation, visual effects, game development, and computer graphics industry. Greenberg will join Byron Howard, director of Disney’s blockbuster animated film Zootopia, and Brad Lewis, producer of Warner Bros film Storks, as keynotes.

Greenberg, whose research is supported by Oculus, Pixar, DreamWorks, Microsoft, Intel, Valve and Autodesk, will also give a workshop on “Virtual Reality: What’s necessary to make it real?” The workshops are special opportunities for participants to learn from these successful, high-profile professionals. Greenberg will graphically present what’s necessary to improve the current VR technology and its great potential for the future.

In addition, Greenberg will be giving the keynote address at CompIMAGE 2016 next week in Niagara Falls, USA. He will speak on “Computer Graphics & Computer Vision: Divergence or Convergence?”

Dr. Greenberg is the Founding Director of the National Science and Technology Center for Computer Graphics and Scientific Visualization. He is a recipient of a 1987 ACM SIGGRAPH Steven A. Coons Award for Outstanding Creative Contributions to Computer Graphics — the highest professional award in computer graphics. He is a pioneer in researching and teaching in the field of computer graphics and is the author of hundreds of articles. He initiated the first computer-aided architectural design studio in the US and his early software developed at Cornell influenced the development of many architectural software (CADD) products still in use today.
