CS PhD student co-chairing First Workshop on Mechanism Design for Social Good

CS PhD student Rediet Abebe is co-chairing the First Workshop on Mechanism Design for Social Good (MD4SG '17) as part of the 18th ACM Conference on Economics and Computation (EC'17) taking place at MIT on June 26.

The workshop is part of a broader goal to foster interest in mechanism design problems with a social good objective: it grew out of a multi-institution, interdisciplinary reading group Rediet has been co-organizing with Kira Goldner (University of Washington) since this past fall. This year's workshop will focus on a set of promising directions dealing with the teme of access to opportunity including in low-income housing, refugree resettlement, healthcare and economic inequality.

The workshop will featured invited speakers, submitted papers, and a panel discussion with researchers who have experience applying theoretical insights to areas with a social good objective. Visit md4sg.com for more information.
