CIS 300: Introduction to Computer Game Design

Communications Lab 5
Game Script

Due: Tuesday, March 4 at 11:59pm

The Game Script

As discussed in class and the text, the Game Script (or Game Bible) is an internal document to be used a reference for the entire development team. It records all design decisions, is kept up-to-date, and should be able to answer any non-technical question about the game.

As a living reference document that has authorship shared by several people, the Game Script is especially well-suited to the Wiki format. For this class, every group will create a Wiki for their Game Script, and keep it updated throughout the semester.

You are free to use any Wiki you like. A popular one from previous semesters that is free and easy to use is wikidot.com. It supports all the standard features, has forum support (which you may want to use as a bug list or task list internally), allows file uploads, and good administrative controls. A skeleton of a game script from a previous semester can be seen at munchkingame.wikidot.com.

Setting up Your Wiki

By the end of class today, you should choose a Wiki format and set it up with administrative control for all group members, as well as all CIS300 staff. In information that the staff needs in order to access the site (e.g. passwords, etc.) should be included as part of the text file that you submit for this communication lab.

Once you have decided on your wiki provider, you should start to flesh it out. By Tuesday at midnight, your Wiki should have all of the design information you have so far (which should be fairly substantial considering the work you put into the prototype.

Submission

Submit the text file wiki.txt to CMS. This file should contain the URL of your wiki, as well as information that the staff needs to know in order to administer your wiki.
