CIS 300: Introduction to Computer Game Design

Assignment 0
Preferences and Skills

Due: Tuesday, January 22th at 11:59pm

In order to form the groups for the the game projects semester, I need to know what kinds of games you all want to work on, and what skills sets each of you has. The goal is to form balanced groups which share similar development interests. Obviously, it is infeasible to make groups that are always perfectly balanced and in synch, but this information will help us get a lot closer.

Submit a file prefs.txt via CMS containing the following information:

  1. Your name, netID, year and college
  2. Your area of expertise (programming, art, writing, music). If you joined as a writer and want to stay, tell us that so we know, but pick one of the above three. In addition, write a sentence summarizing the level of your experience in this area.
  3. Any secondary areas of expertise (e.g. are you a programmer who can fake being an artist, or are you an artist with some minimal programming expertise). Summarize the level of your experience in the second areas in a sentence for each additional area.
  4. In 1-3 sentences, describe the kind of game you want to work on. You can speak in terms of genre or setting or gameplay or anything else you like.
  5. Any particular people you would like to work with (no guarantees).
  6. Your availability during the second lab section (e.g. can you meet 1:20-2:10 on Tuesday/Thursday).
  7. Any additional information you would like us to consider when forming groups.

Keep in mind the requirements for CIS300 games. Remember that you will only have 4-6 people working part time for a few months on your game, so it will have to be reasonable - think small but clever.

Due Tuesday, January 22nd at 11:59pm through CMS. Submit a file called prefs.txt.
