CIS 300: Introduction to Computer Game Design
The Concept Document

This assignment is to create your first real design document, the Concept Document.  Rollings and Adams describe it as a short document intended to grab the attention of a potential publisher. It should contain

  • The premise of the game

  • Its intended audience

  • Its genre

  • What makes it unique/original

  • The setting/story

It should start with a catchy one sentence description of the game, and throughout should be written to convince the course instructors that your game idea is a good (and feasible) one. This document should capture the core essence of your game; you will use it throughout the semester to make sure that game development follows your original "vision". See pp 15-16 and Appendix A of the text for more details and examples.

Your document should be 4-5 pages in length (a bit longer than stated in the text). You should have a draft of the document done by Wednesday, September 22. This draft will be reviewed with your group by a technical writing consultant. You will turn in the document a week later.

Due Wednesday, September 29 at 12:20pm.
