Feedback was collected as part of the faculty indicator questionnaire. About 60 comments on the application were received, which represents about 10% of the people who completed a faculty indicator questionnaire.
This was actually the majority of feedback received, which seems to indicate that the application was fairly transparent to users. A significant number of people were concerned about what CALS wasn't asking them to report. In general, these questions were omitted because the administration can extract the data from other data sources. One possible improvement for next year would be the addition of non-editable information. Users would then be reassured that the administration isn't ignoring an important part of their responsibilities.
"[It is] not obvious where to put outside acitivies like talks to Cornell alumni groups or professional societies not in my area."
"I am surprised that there is not more on educational activities such as courses taught/co-taught (credit hours) or numbers of students receiving degrees."
"There was no question related to effort distribution."
"Please provide a 'printer friendly' interface."
"What do all of the asterisks mean? I kept expecting footnotes."
"This form would have been easier to complete and edit if I could have moved from page to page with a page button rather than having to hit 'Prev' four times to move from page five back to page one."
"Much easier to complete than prior formats."
"This was not difficult to do."
"Completing the questionnaire was quite easy."
